As I was driving along a farm road, I noticed 4 "swarms" of these flies or whatever all around some hay bails. Hence the name "hay flies". Did not want to get too close incase they attacked. There were thousands of them. Used the 300mm full out and at my sensor conversion about a 450mm shot. Still a bit too far to determine what these were, but an interesting photo with the mix of colour at f/5.7 @ 1/125. (August 2011)
